We move into our final Shamanic Practitioner Training, beginning in 2026 and we are seeking another strong group of aspirants that will take forward this essential work that can benefit so many people, as well as Nature and our beloved Gaia, Mother Earth. We are looking for special people who have courage and determination to make positive changes both within and outside of themselves.
“I have had great privilege and honour to be in service of this work. I have enjoyed every aspect of the training — good times, challenging times, laughter and tears, but most of all the personalities that bring themselves forward with the courage of the wild woman, the sage, the child. It is now time for me to move on to new pastures and witness the movement of Spirit and honour those who dared to look themselves in the eye, to witness their True Self in motion, all ways and ever eager for mystery”. — Simon Chamberlain (school founder)
More than any other of the human types concerned with the sacred, the shamanic personality journeys into the far regions of the cosmic mystery and brings back the vision and the power needed by the human community at the most elementary level. — Thomas Berry; The Dream of the Earth
This course teaches a full set of methods and techniques needed for effective shamanic healing practice. There are also many strong, powerful activities to encourage strong inner work as well as movement towards harmony and balance as a person navigates across the landscape of human life. You will be able to use these tools with clients, family, friends, places, animals, Nature and yourself. The course will be 5 taught modules and 1 independent module, over a 9 month period.
Methods, techniques and practices taught here are not tied to any specific cultures but are commonly used in modern western shamanic practice. This way tends to suit most contemporary practitioners as well as clients in our time and culture. If you are looking for culturally specific teaching, feel free to contact me and I may be able to put you in touch with an appropriate teacher, or guide you in some other way.
You will learn:
Experiences you will have include:
We do not use any psychoactive or consciousness altering substances on this training or any of our work.
The 5 taught modules are fully residential at our site on the west side of Norway, overlooking the magnificent Sognefjord. The independent module is at least 1 overnight stay at a place chosen and arranged by you (more guidance will be offered during the course).
The spirit of hospitality is very important to us. Accommodation is in our comfortable farmhouse set in a large expanse of garden and forest land and overlooking the fjord. All meals are cooked and served to you and we cater for a range of dietary requirements. Some snacks are served in breaks, along with coffee, tea, etc.
Our dedicated group training room is heated and spacious as well as being close to the house and facilities. The room is kept energetically clean and students often remark on it as a powerful, safe container.
We are interested in those who are determined, motivated and engaged, rather than large numbers of people. The course will be taught in a small group of between 3 to 6 people, depending on the number of applicants accepted. We aim to provide high quality training so that you can become a high quality practitioner and this is one of the reasons we keep groups small.
We are a small school and have no intentions to grow bigger. For this reason, we are delighted to be able to offer you personal attention as and when you need it. Your trainer can be contacted directly, even between modules, and will answer you personally, often fairly quickly. We have a network of practitioners who can offer extra mentoring if you feel it would benefit you. We are also keen to support shamanic practitioners who have successfully completed the course, with a reasonable level of advice freely available.
Places are offered only to applicants who sincerely declare themselves committed, determined people who can work well in a group, who respect each other and who will honour the work. We are looking for people who are serious about the process, who are motivated and highly likely to complete the whole of the course. Applicants must be willing to fully complete all modules of the course and also to engage in homework. Please apply only if you feel sure you will be suitable according to the qualities we seek.
It is not important for you to have experience with shamanic techniques before starting the course as long as you have a genuine interest and are committed to engaging in the work and doing your best.
Each module starts on a Wednesday evening and is completed on the following Sunday afternoon. Our work days generally begin at 09:00 and often include evening sessions. Breaks are, of course, essential.

Payment terms can be discussed and mutually agreed upon.
The independent module is at a place of your choosing and to be completed at a time of your choosing between modules 2 and 4. Any costs involved in this independent work must be met by yourself, but there is no requirement to spend any money on that module. You will receive further guidance during one of the early course modules.
Homework will be given based around methods and techniques that you learn during our work together.
If you accepted on the course, we will send you details of how to get here and we will be very happy to guide you with travel plans from wherever you set off from. The school is easy to get to by car or bus. Buses stop directly outside the school.
We do not operate a “pay and turn up” policy with training. We take care to form groups that are likely to benefit from each others dedication to the work. Selection of students for each intake is based on information given on application forms and their declaration to commit to the work and give it as much priority as they reasonably can.
This training is designed to give comprehensive education into known and accepted methods of shamanic practice. Successful completion of the course will arm the aspirant with a full range of classical techniques that can be deployed for the well-being of clients experiencing a range of maladies.
Applicants must consider the commitment required to engage successfully in this intense training. For completion of the work, each candidate must attend all 5 modules in person at Ytre Sogn, Norway and the one independent module. As well as this, students will be given tasks, homework and practice work outside of the components and some of these will need to be reported in writing for assessment.
A solid coherent group of students is essential and each candidate should accept commitment to the group before applying. The groups will be small, usually in the region of three to six students.
We do not accommodate pets, please make arrangements for their care during the work.
The course is intense and demanding. Please apply only if you understand this and agree to engage with high levels of determination, commitment and energy.
Keep it human. Please do not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) when applying. We are embarking in soul work and wish to hear from your heart, not a machine.
You may be asked questions by email or an arranged video meeting, once we have received your application. Please double-check your contact details are correctly stated. We will generally contact you by email in the first instance.
